Postdoc Position: Scientific Employee at Friedrich Loeffler-Institute (m/f/d)

The Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut is one of the world’s leading research institutes in the field of animal diseases, animal welfare, animal husbandry, animal nutrition and farm animal genetics. It is part of the portfolio of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture and informs and advises the Federal Government in these areas.

The Institute of Epidemiology at the Greifswald-Insel Riems headquarters is seeking to fill the following position at the earliest possible date to be filled full-time. The position is for a fixed-term of 33 months as part of the Horizon Europe project “Wildlife, Livestock, huMan and Infectious Disease” (WiLiMan-ID). The main objective of WiLiMan-ID is to identify key factors that enable the spread and emergence of five animal diseases in a changing environment.

Tasks:

The post holder will be responsible for the scientific processing of the topic:
• Identification of transmission routes and other aspects of the spread of African Swine
Fever (ASF) through simulation modelling
• Development of analytical approaches for the development of effective strategies and
methods for monitoring, prevention and control of ASF

Position requirements:

• University degree in biology, veterinary medicine, epidemiology, mathematics, physics
or comparable disciplines
• PhD in the field of epidemiological modelling or related fields
• Good programming skills (R, Python)
• Interest in infectious diseases, epidemiology and interdisciplinary research
• Fluent written and spoken English
